When do your kids start school? As the school year begins, millions of parents (me included) are quietly rejoicing at the return to sanity!
I recently went on a trip to New Orleans. One day the temperature was 90 degrees with a “feels like” of 106. However, because I decided not to check my luggage, bringing sunscreen wasn’t an option. So, I made sure I stayed in the shade as much as possible. I still got a bit of sunburn on my shoulders since I didn’t follow the appropriate guidelines (more on that later).
How’s your vision? Do you ever wonder if LASIK or laser surgery would help? The first time I ever heard of LASIK was from a friend who decided to have it done in the 90’s when it first came out. She went to Canada for a couple days and stayed in a hotel to recuperate because it was approved in Canada before the US.
Is it just me or does there seem to be more overweight kids running around (or maybe I should say, “not running around”)? According to the US Center for Disease Control (CDC), it’s not just me. Childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years. In 2012, more than 1 in 3 children and adolescents were overweight or obese.
Have you spotted a senior citizen rockin’ a pair of big black cataract sunglasses? Before this article, that was about the extent of my cataract expertise. Well, turns out it’s not far off: according to Statistic Brain, 50% of Americans over the age of 80 have cataracts and Medicare spends $3.4 billion each year treating the disease!
