5 FRESH Tips for 2020 Renewals and New Installs

Oct 21, 2020

How can 2020 get even crazier? Enter October ;-)

Don’t get me wrong, it’s one of my favorite months, but anyone in the benefits industry knows it also packs a punch to your calendar with open enrollment meetings, trainings, renewal conversations, and a general race toward January 1st. Plus, this year adds the extra layer of doing it ALL online.

Today I’m sharing 5 fresh tips to help with your renewals and new installs, along with tips specific to freshbenies…

1. Get up to speed

Yes, even during 4th quarter and a pandemic. Before you finalize open enrollment materials, reach out to your key vendor partners. Are you aware of their latest and greatest enhancements, features, products and services? Take the extra time to ensure you have the best, most current solutions to fit each of your groups. If you’re a freshbenies client, just click here to schedule time with me now.

2. Stop, collaborate and listen

Who knew Vanilla Ice was right? Particularly this year given the changes and challenges employers have experienced, be sure to create space to listen to your clients and their needs. If your groups are working on cost containment, strategize with Neil about the best freshbenies package to meet specific employee needs without costly impact on medical claims.

3. Make it personal

Excitement is infectious. When you share great personal stories about a service, your clients will listen AND remember. Not only will you sell more, you’ll see more engagement. Here’s a great example from one of our broker partners, Jeanette Abbe

Ask me how to get a free, two-month freshbenies trial. You’ll be able to show why freshbenies gets marketing-leading utilization with tools like advocacy, telehealth, behavioral telehealth and more.

4. Make it easy

Employees are stretched pretty thin these days, too. Many are juggling work, different schooling scenarios and rearranged family schedules. Break your open enrollment meetings into smaller “snackable” sections and make them available on-demand.

5. Make it fun

Fun is memorable and it drives engagement. How can you get creative with your open enrollment plans? Click here for a bit of inspiration from Jeff Ungvary in our latest “Brokers in Cars Getting Coffee” interview (you’ll hear one of his open enrollment twists around the 3:40 mark).

Fun doesn’t have to be complicated. We see great success with entering employees into a gift card drawing when they complete certain actions: activated their freshbenies membership, shared a testimonial, joined an enrollment session on time, etc.. Plus, we’ve got some great freshbenies videos you can use - including live lobsters and a Magic 8 ball. That is fun and memorable!

BONUS!

If you missed our recent 45-minute Happy Power Hour session, click the image below to watch now. You’ll hear a few more ideas and current industry insights – and don’t miss Neil giving an overview of our latest packages at the 12:40 mark.

I didn’t want to go to urgent care or the ER. Using Doctors Online in my freshbenies membership, I went online to ask a doctor. The doctor responded and said to check my blood pressure. He followed up with the next day to make sure my numbers were OK. By then, the feeling was starting to go away. He told me if it persists to contact my doctor. It was great that I didn’t have to go somewhere and wait forever, and it was free.” - Kelli from Texas
